It is with a great deal of pleasure that I have taken the
position of Palos Verdes Little League president for a second year. Having
a son and daughter who started in PVLL, playing T-ball, I have truly
enjoyed watching many players grow up in the league throughout the last 6
years. We are very fortunate to live in such a great community and our
league represents everything good about Palos Verdes. Little League is not
just about baseball. It’s about learning good sportsmanship, becoming part
of a team, and making new friends. There is nothing better than spending a
Friday evening watching the minor leaguers have their first chance to play
games at Valmonte while having one of our famous snack shack burgers or
coming to the field on a Saturday and seeing all the kids, parents and
grandparents enjoying the day. The years go by fast so please enjoy this
time with your children, friends and our community.
I would like to thank the Board members for all their hard work and
support. Each one has given a tremendous amount of time and energy to
fulfill their responsibility and has done it with the fairness and
sportsmanship which exemplifies the standards and goals of the Little
League organization. This year there have been major changes to the
Valmonte Field. This includes an improved field, changes to the dugouts, a
new batting cage, new bullpens and a fresh coat of paint. The Malaga Cove
and Valmonte fields have never looked better. Registration, as well as the
draft and team selection went very smoothly. The website is now being
updated, allowing the parents and players to access more PVLL information.
The coaching and scorekeeping clinics helped not only the coaches but
prepared everyone for more changes in the Little League pitch count rules.
The addition of outside teaching/coaching for the older players has been
so important in helping us reach our goal of teaching skills to our
players. One of the best days of the year, Opening Day was a great success
and I want to thank everyone involved for their dedication and hard work.
We are also looking forward to a great day at Dodger Stadium as well as
our second annual “Movie Night.”
Finally, I would like to thank the parents for supporting Palos Verdes
Little League. This year we are proud to have 450 players registered in
the league (that may be a PVLL record). Many of the parents volunteer,
whether they are coaches or team volunteers. Each of your efforts makes
our league that much better and is very much appreciated. I am very happy
to part of such a great organization, as well as be involved with so many
wonderful parents.
See you at the field.
