| Palos Verdes Region 10 is pleased to offer the Jeff Rickel Memorial
Scholarship. The Jeff Rickel Memorial Scholarship is a $2,000 non-renewable
scholarship awarded to a college-bound high school senior or seniors who reside on the
Palos Verdes Peninsula. The scholarship is named for Jeff Rickel (1963-2003),
who coached his young daughter’s teams for three years in Region 10 before he
succumbed to cancer. Jeff was a remarkable individual in many ways, not the
least was his contribution to Region 10. In each of the three years he coached
in Region 10, his teams were awarded the Sportsmanship Award. He set a fine
example for his young charges on and off the field.
Who May Apply:
Any college-bound high school senior who lives on the Peninsula and
- Has given demonstrable service to Region 10 in the form of refereeing,
coaching, assistant coaching, support on Opening or Closing Day, or the like;
- Has applied to a 2- or 4-year college or university, enrollment to
commence in the fall following high school graduation; and
- Favorable consideration will be given to those applicants who have
consistently played in AYSO, including at the more senior levels (U12 and
higher).

Winner(s) will be invited to attend the Region 10 Annual Banquet in January
2008.
